Commitment Overview
Shrinath Handicraft is committed to maintaining a responsible, transparent, and reliable supply chain for our domestic and international customers.
As a handicraft and export business, we work with a network of artisans, manufacturers, material suppliers, finishing partners, packaging providers, logistics companies, and other service providers in India. Our supply chain may vary depending on the product, order quantity, customization requirements, and destination market.
Our objective is to ensure that products supplied to our customers meet the agreed specifications while maintaining appropriate standards of quality, workmanship, packaging, and commercial compliance.
1. Our Supply Chain
Our supply chain generally consists of the following progressive stages:
The exact process may differ depending on the nature of the product and the requirements of a particular order.
2. Raw Material Sourcing
We source materials required for our products through appropriate suppliers and business partners in India. Depending on the product, materials may include:
- Wood (Seasoned Teak, Sheesham, Mango, Acacia)
- Metal (Brass, Cast Iron, Bronze, Aluminium alloys)
- Natural and decorative materials (Bone inlay, stone, jute)
- Hardware and fittings
- Finishing materials (Patinas, food-safe natural waxes, lacquers)
- Packaging materials (5-ply export kraft cartons, bubble film, edge guards)
- Other product-specific components
Material selection may depend on product specifications, availability, quality requirements, customization, and customer requirements. We aim to work with suppliers who can provide materials suitable for the intended product and agreed specifications.
3. Artisans and Manufacturing Partners
Our products may be handcrafted, assembled, manufactured, finished, or processed through a combination of our own arrangements and selected artisans, workshops, manufacturers, and production partners.
Handcrafted production can naturally result in minor variations in colour, texture, grain, finish, dimensions, pattern, and surface characteristics. Such variations may be inherent characteristics of handmade products and are not necessarily considered manufacturing defects.
For specific wholesale or private-label projects, production arrangements may be selected according to the customer's specifications and order requirements.
4. Supplier and Partner Selection
We aim to work with suppliers and production partners based on relevant commercial and operational considerations, which may include:
- Product quality
- Material availability
- Manufacturing capability
- Production capacity
- Reliability and consistency
- Lead time
- Pricing
- Packaging capability
- Ability to meet agreed specifications
Where appropriate, we may review product samples, production quality, specifications, and other relevant information before engaging a supplier or production partner.
5. Quality Control
Quality control may take place at different stages of the supply chain depending on the product and order. Quality checks may include:
- Product dimensions and structural tolerance
- Material and finish integrity
- Workmanship and joint stability
- Colour and surface appearance
- Quantity verification
- Customization requirements
- Branding, engraving, and stamping accuracy
- Packaging integrity (drop resistance, moisture barrier)
- Visible damage or transit defects
For larger or customized orders, additional inspection procedures (AQL 2.5, pre-shipment third-party inspections) may be agreed with the Buyer before production or shipment.
6. Custom and Private-Label Production
For customized and private-label orders, we coordinate with specialized production and finishing partners. The Buyer may provide product specifications, drawings, artwork, logos, branding guidelines, packaging requirements, dimensions, and material specifications.
We coordinate these requirements with the relevant production partners as necessary to fulfil the order. The Buyer remains responsible for ensuring that any intellectual property, logo, artwork, trademark, or design supplied by the Buyer is authorized for commercial use.
7. Packaging
Packaging requirements are determined according to the product type, order specifications, transportation method, and destination. Depending on the shipment, packaging may include:
- Individual product packaging with protective tissue and air-bubble film
- Heavy-duty 5-ply kraft corrugated cartons
- Palletization on heat-treated pine pallets (ISPM-15 compliant)
- Reinforced export-grade wooden crates for fragile architectural pieces
- Moisture desiccant packs for maritime humidity protection
Special packaging requirements may involve additional costs and must generally be agreed before production or dispatch.
8. Export Documentation
For international shipments, we prepare and coordinate comprehensive export documentation depending on transaction requirements:
- Commercial Invoice with HS Codes
- Detailed Packing List (weights, dimensions, net/gross)
- Bill of Lading (Ocean) / Airway Bill (Air)
- Certificate of Origin (Non-preferential / GSP / Free Trade Agreements)
- Fumigation / Phytosanitary certificates for timber items
- Customs shipping bill and export declarations
9. Logistics and Transportation
We work with established third-party logistics providers, global freight forwarders, container shipping lines (Maersk, MSC, CMA-CGM), and express courier carriers (DHL, FedEx). Transportation is executed under agreed Incoterms® (FOB Nhava Sheva/Mundra, CIF, CFR, EXW, DDP).
10. Customs and Import Responsibilities
For international orders, customs procedures differ by jurisdiction. Unless otherwise agreed under DDP terms, the Buyer is responsible for destination-country requirements including import duties, taxes, VAT/GST, customs clearance fees, port demurrage, and local handling.
11. Traceability
We maintain commercial records relating to our orders and supply arrangements, including purchase orders, supplier information, material batch logs, quality inspection records, and shipping manifests. The level of traceability is maintained in accordance with product complexity and international trade regulations.
12. Responsible Business Practices
We conduct all commercial relationships responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws. We expect our business partners to operate lawfully and ethically. Where concerns regarding quality, unlawful practices, or supply-chain non-compliance arise, we review the relationship and take prompt corrective action.
13. Labour and Ethical Standards
We support fair and lawful business practices throughout our craft ecosystem. We strictly and unequivocally prohibit:
- Forced or involuntary labour
- Human trafficking
- Child labour
- Unlawful workplace practices and discrimination
- Bribery, kickbacks, or commercial corruption
We expect all artisans, workshops, and production partners to uphold fair compensation, dignified working environments, and full compliance with local labour laws.
14. Environmental Responsibility
We recognize the importance of responsible resource management and strive for sustainable craft practices:
- Prioritizing responsibly harvested timber (certified plantation teak, mango wood, reclaimed sheesham)
- Maximizing timber yield and repurposing scrap off-cuts into smaller accent decor
- Using water-based, low-VOC finishes and natural wax coatings where applicable
- Reducing unnecessary single-use plastics in export transit wrapping
- Optimizing container cubing (CBM) to reduce transit carbon footprint per unit
15. Supply Chain Changes
Our supply network adapts dynamically based on material seasonality, artisan availability, volume capacities, and regulatory standards. Any transition of workshop or partner is managed under rigorous supervision to ensure product quality and agreed specifications remain uncompromised.
16. Supplier Confidentiality
We respect the business confidentiality of our artisan workshops, foundry partners, and raw material suppliers. Proprietary fabrication formulas, sub-tier contracts, and internal cost matrices are held confidential, while ensuring required compliance disclosures are provided to relevant regulatory bodies.
17. Buyer Requests for Supply-Chain Information
Wholesale buyers and corporate retail groups conducting ethical trade due diligence may submit written requests for supply-chain compliance certifications. We review and fulfill reasonable requests in alignment with mutual non-disclosure and commercial compliance standards.
18. Product-Specific Requirements
Where destination markets mandate specialized declarations (e.g. US Lacey Act timber genus declarations, California Proposition 65, European EUTR/EUDR, Australian Biosecurity heat treatment), the Buyer should specify these requirements during initial quotation for accurate documentation integration.
19. Continuous Improvement
Responsible supply chain management is an evolving discipline. We regularly audit workshop safety, artisan skills development, kiln efficiency, and transit packaging strength to enhance transparency and quality delivery.
20. Disclaimer
This disclosure outlines our general operational framework and does not constitute a warranty that every independent supplier follows uniform operations. Specific contractual representations are defined by individual signed proforma agreements and trade purchase orders.
